(I wasted an entire day because of an error in the "RF in RFID" book, lol. they said an opcode was '10' that was actually '01'. had to read the actual protocol spec to realize that was the problem)

(one issue with this stuff is if the tag doesn't respond, it's pretty much impossible to debug, you just have to try things. like it's not like you can launch a debugger on the tag, it's this opaque piece of hardware that is not inspectable)

anyway, I also came across this Maia SDR project that just came out earlier this year, and it looks incredibly promising for the long term (I'm not sure how I missed it before) https://destevez.net/2023/02/maia-sdr/

not immediately useful, I think, because it still seems right that we get things working with basic C prototype first, but it's so exciting that they figured out how we could use the full 60MHz bandwidth of the SDR by means of custom gateware
