The standard way to achieve what you're doing is to protect the share_ptr with a std::mutex. There is no easy way to provide a lock-free pointer to string. Such an object would usher in a revolution in computing.

LOL this revolution in computing would also destroy the job of a lot of senior engineers, but I don't think we'll see that happen anytime soon. –

It's a compiler flag or option that exists in many languages and compilers…

So what does it actually do? Well, as the name said, it makes your math faster.
That sounds great, we should definitely do that!

I mean, the whole point of fast-math is trading off speed with correctness. If
fast-math was to give always the correct results, it wouldn't be fast-math, it
would be the standard way of doing math.
